Fruit Christmas Tree

I have seen flat fruit Christmas Tree displays but this is the first time I have seen the idea go 3-D.  It looks festive and at the same time features healthy fruits to snack on.

This was from Jeanne Benedict and it was a spin-off on a veggie tree she had created previously  "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee".

To make the base is made of cabbage and green and purple grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon balls, kiwi and Clementine orange wedges, but you could use use your imagination, but you would probably want to make a day in advance Christmas Veggie version took 1-2 hours to put together.  Still, would be worth it if you wanted to impress your Holiday guests.

Watermelon Shark

This "shark" by Sun Scholars fashioned from a watermelon with blue jello for the water, blueberries for the eyes and embellished with Swedish Fish would be fun for a backyard picnic or a kids party.   She has a tutorial on how to make your own here.

It is amazing what people can do with a sharp knife, a watermelon and an active imagination; case in point, this awesome "Death Star" watermelon that was posted by Silverisdead on flickr, which would be perfect to take to a Star Wars fan summer barbecue.
