Resource Furniture: Italian-Designed Space Saving Furniture


As city living spaces get smaller and smaller, having multi-functional furniture will become increasingly important selling point.  

This is a video interview by Core 77  with Ron Barth, President of Resource Furniture, a  New-York-based company, which distributes Italian brand Clei featuring space-saving mulit use transforming furniture, such as artwork to a bed, coffee table to dining table, ac couch to a bed and storage cabinet to a bed.

What is impressive and different with these pieces that your typical Murphy bed is the ease of which the pieces transform and that you don't have to move everything out of the way to make the transformation, like the desk to bed at :55 into the video - all of the items on the desk are left in place and the bed comes down over the top of them.

Backpack Couch


I saw this over at Dornob and it appears to be a concept piece as a collaboration between Eastpak Backpack and design company Quinze & Milan.

I love the concept and this would be great for a dorm room or small apartment.   I would prefer it be a bit bigger though so it could double as bed.
