Cats Vs. Christmas Trees

The poor trees doesn't stand a chance against the furry four-legged felines.

Tokyo Cat Man - 10 Persian Cats in a Pram

If I saw this I would have to stop traffic to get out to see it.   A man in Tokyo takes not one, not two, not even just three cats, but 10 cats for a walk pushing them around in pram (stroller) like you would a baby or small child.

What I can't figure out is how he gets them all to contentedly (for the most part) to stay crammed into the pram (stroller) and allow him to push them around and not run off. I never had any luck getting kittens to ride in my Barbie car without as a child.

Cats in Hanging Baskets

Cat love high places and cramped quarters, so while not mind blowing, cats in hanging baskets is not something I had ever seen before.

When we used to have cats they loved to climb the curtains over the picture window and walk on the curtain rod and go over to the top of the corner cabinet and squeeze behind the ornate decoration on the top.

Above is a short video of five casts in four baskets.   Happy Caturday!

Were there is warmth, there will be a cat, but it is not everyday you see five cats lined up trying to catch some rays.

Happy Labor Day!

While other blogs have political rants due the state of economy this Labor Day, I have instead chosen to post this picture of nearly a dozen cute furry little kittens instead.  They are apropos as their mothers had to carry them, go into labor to have them, and will nurture them to prepare them to be on our own.  My prayer for our society is that people do the same with their own little bundles of joy so they do not expect to suckle on the government teat the rest of their lives.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day!

Cute & Clever to Creepy Cat Commerials

As I am an avid cat lover, any thing kitty will grab my attention and I thought I would share this compilation of cute and clever to downright creepy commercials featuring our furtastic feline friends

This commercial is for Hanes "kitten soft" Men's T-shirts

Who would have think this funny and clever commercial for EDS would feature cowboys rangling cats?

In this commercial they love him so much they cling to him because he feeds them Whiskas Temptations cat treats

This commercial for Sprint 4G Nexus touts it speed can give up more cats on the internet

This Toyota Corolla commercial is like what I would imagine a bad acid trip would be like, melding the heads of kittens on fighting thugs.

In this one for Skittles the cat is cute, but the guy is downright creepy

Do you know of any cute, clever or creepy cat commercials other than the above?  Please feel free to share them in the comments section:)

The Chris Crocker of Cat Ladies

Hoping this is just her trial run for her E-Harmony video as she comes across as the Chris Crocker of Cat Ladies.   While this video is likely to leave would be suitors tripping over themselves to get to the nearest exit, I would imagine her inbox will be flooded with every animal rights group soliciting a donation instead.

Cats should bring joy, not tears...perhaps some therapy or Prozac are in order.

FASHION CATS

Photo:  Amazon.com

"Fashion Cats" is a book by author/photographer Takako Iwasa  that is for sale on Amazon.com
which touts "Feline couture from Japan's #1 Cat Tailor"...I wonder if they have a competition for that title, perhaps a TV show, "Project Fashion Cat"?

As I am a cat lover,  it does look like a cute coffee table book but I know from personal experience in dressing up cats when I was a kid that they don't take too kindly to it.   Usually if they saw me coming towards them with a doll dress they scampered under the dresser to hide, and you can see the same look in the eyes of the cats in the behind the scenes video for the book below.    It says "I will pay you back for this; I will climb your curtains, claw your furniture and paw cat litter all over the floor.   I will lie on any book you are trying to read and pounce on you stomach in the middle of the night...just you wait and see".

BEWARE OF COCOA SHELL MULCH IF YOU HAVE PETS

I received an e-mail from a former co-worker about the above and I checked it out on Snopes
and it is partly true because it contains caffeine and theobromine in the shells and if the animal likes it and eats it - it can cause symptoms from nausea and vomiting for small amounts to seizures and death if a large amount is ingested.

It does sound like from the article that it is rare that a dog or other animal would ingest enough to become lethal (only one dog of record has died from it) and that the some brands may wash most of the chemicals out before processing for mulch - just something to keep in mind when selecting mulch.

For further details see the article at Snopes.

Cats Wearing Wigs

Glamourpuss: The Enchanting World of Kitty Wigs from Julie Jackson on Vimeo.

For the cat lover on your Christmas list, over at Kittywigs they offer a very interesting and entertaining book called "Glamourpuss" of cats wearing wigs which and they also offer actual cat wigs for sale.  If you like the Electric Blue one, it will run about $50 and comes in a round metal case, along with instructions, tips for photographing and a mouse rattle to keep kitty's attention.

This creative effort is by Julie Jackson, Jill Johnson, and Siamese kitty, Boone.

Now I am a cat person and admit I used to dress up my cats when I was about 10 years old. While some of them would tolerate the little doll dresses and one would let me paint its claws with bright red nail polish, they didn't tolerate anything on their head for more than about 15 seconds.  The time I made "hair" out of a paper towel by cutting the ends into strips BeBe thought it was a new toy and flipped it off his head and batted it around the room as if it were a rabid mouse. I could picture a similar fate with the cat wig,  but then again, I always seem to pick out cats that have "attitude" and have more owned me than I have owned them.  Every cat is different and I guess if you started them out slowly or as kitten wearing it, they might be ok with it.
