A Boulder, Colorado man, Lueb Popoff is able to create amazing sculptures with a chain saw and a bit of paint.

On  his website at Hollow Log Tree Carving and Sculpture it indicates most carving are done on-site but only along the Front Range and Summit areas of Colorado.  It indicates that recently cut trees or trees cut within the last 4 years and maximum tree height for the trunk to be no more than 10.5 feet and usually takes 2 to 3 days, but looks like the above sculputure took two weeks.
