The Moving Wall - Vietnam Wall Traveling Memorial

"The Moving Wall" is a half size replica that was inspired by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall that is installed in Washingtion, DC.   John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication in Washington and it inspired him with other Vietnam veterans to create a traveling version to take to different locations to those that might not otherwise ever get to see the original.   There are now two walls that travel from April to November sponsored by different local groups where they are installed for a week.
Back in 2001 our city had the fortune of a local cemetery along with Vietnam Veterans sponsor a visit and I was able to take my son to see this and it and it is a very moving experience.  Seeing each name of each person on a vastly spanning wall and being able to touch it really to your heart and your mind the devastation of loss of human lives in a war.
There were several people there that whose loved ones were listed on the wall and some left memorials or letters to their loved ones near their name on the wall.

If you would ever get the opportunity to visit this in a city where you live, I highly recommend it.

this is a good idea. it is so sad that this type of memorial is needed, but it is. so many die in service to our country. it is just awful and just amazing, and they deserve our love, respect and attention.
