I remember learning high school that Jupiter is a ball of gases and liquids and in constant turmoil, but this is the first time I had ever heard of the appearance changing so drastically.
AOL News reported that one of the "stripes" is missing. The article advises that theory is that the "stripes" are made up of dark clouds and the disappearance of the stripe is a result in changes to the color of the clouds and that this is not the first time this has happened...it wasn't there when NASA first took photos in 1973 and again in the 1990s.
