VINTAGE WPA (WORK PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION) POSTERS NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ON FLICKR

I love vintage artwork and excited that the Library of Congress has available on Flickr 25 vintage WPA posters. 

"The 25 posters selected for this set come from the Library’s collection of over 900 WPA posters. (WPA meaning first Works Progress Administration, then Work Projects Administration.) The original silkscreen, lithograph, and woodcut posters were produced between 1936 and 1943 as part of one of the first U.S. Government programs to support the arts. The posters, typically 22 x 14 inches in size, promoted exhibits, community activities, and health, safety, and educational programs."

This one is my favorite and is socially applicable today as it was 76 years ago.

A JOKE WITH A NEARLY 30 YEAR OLD REFERENCE ISN'T ALWAY FUNNY

This was spotted via Boing Boing and it would have been chuckleworthy 1984 when Lionel Richie's hit song "Hello" came out.

However,  it will be lost on my son's generation it will leave them scratching their heads wondering who the heck it is - had to be old because nobody wears an afro these days -- maybe T-Pain dad, or 50 Cents?  How sad whoever is looking for their long-lost dad like he is a missing puppy.

I know if I would tell him it is an 80's song and he actually listened to it that it would be classified a pathetic 80's "whiner" song and the guy needs to get over it and "Hello!  Move on already, she just isn't into you!"
