Unique Way to Calm A Newborn Baby

"Dr. Hamilton, a pediatrician in Santa Monica, CA shows how to calm a crying baby using "The Hold". This technique has been utilized by Dr. Hamilton (Dr. Bob) to quiet infants during office visits. Parents have learned it and have experienced great success at home. You can too. His Pacific Ocean Pediatrics is in Santa Monica http://pacificoceanpedriatics.com. He also leads Africa medical missions with Lighthouse Medical Missions http://lighthousemedicalmissions.com."

It looks like some sort of odd baby wrestling move, but worth it if it works.

If you are not comfortable with holding a baby in a rather acrobatic move like that, my pediatrician recommended putting your hand over the upper chest near the neck while the baby is lying on its back and speak in a soft, reassuring tone and it did help many times if there wasn't another legitimate reason for crying, such as being hungry, needed diaper changed, gassy or ill.
