In today's tough economic times, spending money on arts, cultural events and going to museums are usually one of the first items to go.   But thanks to an initiative by Target, there are opportunities attend over 2,200 events and 120 museums for either free or reduced prices.

When my son was younger we visited the Indianapolis Children's Museum several times over the years and if I carted off a friend or two of his along, it got to be very pricey, but worth it for all of the amazing activities and exhibits for pre-schoolers up to Jr. High aged kids, such the play area pictured above, an area where they can pretend to dig for dinosaurs or visit a Pharaohs tomb, learn about other cultures through artifacts and exhibits (such as sit in a rickshaw, pictured below) or play a scientist in the hands-on science gallery.

The current cost for the Indianapolis Children's Museum where the normal admission prices are as follows:

Youth (ages 2–17) $10.50
Adult (ages 18–59) $15.50
Senior (60+) $14.50

But with Target Free Family Night, admission on the first Thursday of each month from 4 p.m.- 8 pm is free!
