The Sydney Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef

The above is may look like something you would see under the sea, but actually it is crocheted facsimile.

The Sydney Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef  was exhibited in August, 2009 part of a global project created by Margaret and Christine Wertheim of the Institute for Figuring in Los Angeles to celebrate the Great Barrier Reef in Austrailia and raise awareness of how pollution and global warming are threatening its existence.

For more pictures see and short video of all of the projects see:  Sydney Hyperbolic Crochet Reef Project

The works are amazing and worth a few minutes of your time to check them out.
